We are now a year into our fund-raising and as of 1st March 2012, we have raised over £38, 000.
We have been overwhelmed with the support that we have received from so many. It has been an incredible year and we feel very privileged to be part of our community.
We want to pay special tribute to our school, Ysgol Glantaf. The teachers have been totally amazing in their continued care and support of us, particularly when things get tough for us and our families and they are so caring and supportive of Alaw and Rory.
The teachers have also completely embraced our fund raising events and have done everything in their power to support us and help us raise substantial sums of money. They helped us have a fantastic fun day of fund raising with the fancy dress fun run and many attended our gala evening and/or made substantial contributions in the way of donations and/or practical help. We are also very grateful for the Christmas Carol Concert that was organised on our behalf and again raised substantial sums as well as being an evening full of talent and beautiful music. Having organised the fun run and gala evening, we now really appreciate how much work goes on behind the scenes, to pull off the events that happen in school that we all enjoy and probably take for granted. The work load is massive!!
The fun run was a great day and we are so grateful to all the teachers, pupils and parents who supported it so well. As a school we raised over £15,000 from the fun run, which was more than we had ever thought possible. The effort that went into the costumes was fantastic and we just really enjoyed the whole day. Thank you all so much for making it so successful.
We are currently trying to nail our A’Levels and will be leaving Glantaf in the summer. We know that we will be very sad to leave. We have valued every moment of our fund raising and totally acknowledge the support and commitment of our teachers, pupils (past and present) and parents. This has been an experience that not many people our age are able to have and we feel very lucky and so well supported. It has been hard work, particularly whilst trying to fit in A’Levels and University applications as well but it has also been amazing fun and we would do it all again! To everyone at Glantaf or connected to Glantaf, a massive THANK YOU, with a special thanks to Meleri Jones and Dyfrig Rees.
